Will & Darlene Beasley

Will was born in 1964 in Chesapeake, Va.  He decided to become a Christian at the age of five when his father lead him in a prayer to accept Jesus as his Lord and Savior.  When he was twelve his family relocated to Elizabeth City, NC and at the age of twenty-one Will felt called to Southeastern University in Lakeland Fl.  He graduated in 1990 with a BA in Bible and a minor in Missions.  Will and Darlene married in November 1990 and in March 1991 Will enlisted in the US Navy.  He served on active duty for twenty years and retired as a Chief Hull Technician in May 2011.Will and Darlene have three children and four grandchildren. They currently attend Charleston First Assembly where Willis the Men’s Ministry Leader and a member of the safety and security team.

Will started kayak fishing in 2016 with Heroes on the Water, Lowcountry Chapter. He says, “At first I was not sure if I would be able to paddle a kayak, but they helped me realize I could do much more than I thought”.  Will says being on the water brings back fond memories of fishing with his father as a child.

He stumbled across Kayak Fishing with Christ in 2018 and in June 2021 Will stepped up to become the KFWC  Ambassador for South Carolina.  When asked what impacted him first about KFWC he replied “I really felt at home with this group right away.  I appreciated the way they welcomed me as a member of their family. ”What does he like most about KFWC?  “They are a group of people from every religious background and walk of life you can imagine and yet they don’t get hung up on differences of opinion and doctrinal issues.  They’re just a bunch of folks who are crazy about Jesus first, family next and kayak fishing somewhere after that.  It doesn’t matter if you’ve been a Christian five days of fifty years, you are a valuable member of the family.”
